My name is Amy Sullivan and I am 16 years old. I attend Llandybie Apostolic church, which has a very small but amazing congregation. I play the drums in the worship team and occasionally play the guitar and sing.
Music and song writing has always played a massive part of my life, both in church and out. It's been my passion and I've always thanked God for giving me my gift and allowing me to share it with others.
When my Pastor told me about the song writing competition I got very excited, and as soon as I got home I got out my guitar, along with a pen and a piece of paper. I sat on my bed and read over the lyrics of the 3 song choices. I finally decided to choose "You suffered on the tree". I researched the original song, but couldn't find it anywhere! I prayed for help in writing the tune, and then started. I will admit, it only took me 30 minutes to create the melody, but I felt that God gave me exactly what I needed! I was very happy and couldn't wait to record it!
After recording, I was even more excited! I showed my friends and family and could not wait to hear back from the Ablaze team. When I found out that I had won, I was actually moving house. Me and my mother got very excited, and I actually thought she was going to cry (happy tears, I promise). I still can't believe that a tune I wrote one rainy evening in South Wales has now won a competition and will be heard by hundreds of people!
I couldn't have done it without the support of my awesome church, my family, the Ablaze team, but most importantly God. He's opened so many doors and given me so many opportunities. I am truly thrilled and excited to see what else he holds in store in the future! I hope you enjoy listening! God bless you.
